How I met DH

For some reason today, I'm feeling especially mushy. I've been looking through some old pictures (on Facebook, hah) and remembering when DH and I met and started dating. I feel like reminiscing out loud, (by typing?) so enjoy! I'll try to keep it from being terribly long winded.

When I was a freshman at WKU, I was dating a very controlling, clingy guy. My social life was hurting, I was barely "allowed" to talk to guys...I was miserable. With the encouragement of a few people, I finally broke it off with that guy...ahh, freedom. I felt like myself again. I spent more time talking to new guys, not really getting into relationships but enjoying the idea that I could, if I wanted to.

Fast forward a few months and I was having a rough day. I got a text from my friend Bryan asking if I was coming down to his Bible study. The girls at the study were all going to spend the night at one house, and the guys at another. I turned him down and told him that I was feeling blah. He responded with, "Hey, if you're feeling bad, a Bible study is the best place to be!" So I threw together an overnight bag and headed to meet up with the carpool. They drove me to meet up with someone at a gas station (yes, my future DH was that someone) but due to some miscommunication, someone had told him to go ahead and leave. So I rode with everyone else and made it to the Bible study on time.

When I walked in, I said hi to my friend Bryan, and then looked up and thought, "Dang. That guy over there is seriously cute." You got it, I had just checked out my future DH for the first time. We instantly hit it off. We sat next to each other during the study, played spoons, went on the hayride (hey, don't judge, it was in the country) and had a great time. At the end of the night, I was sitting on the porch swing and he came and sat on the steps. I told him that there was plenty of room on the swing...and when he got up and joined me, I thought "Hmm...I wonder if this guy likes me." I would later learn that when I offered him a seat next to me, he thought the same thing. :)

The next morning, he intentionally let my ride leave without me so that he could drive me back to Bowling Green. And that was the start of a very good thing. :)

I haven't updated in forevah.

Things aren't very eventful here. Life rolls on without much excitement, which I'm actually pretty thankful for. I'd rather things be fairly drama free.

Last Friday, we went out with some friends to the Cheesecake Factory in Nashville. It's been forever since we went out, and even longer since we hung out with other adults. We had a lot of fun, and ate WAY too much cheesecake.

DH is taking this Friday off as a sort of "mental health" day. Sometimes you just need a break, ya know? Being the incredible husband that he is, he got us tickets to go see Breaking Dawn: Pt. 1. Yes, I like Twilight. No, I am not ashamed. We'll go see that fairly early in the morning. Hopefully that'll mean there are less teenage girls there, screaming every time someone takes their shirt off, although there will probably be a lot who skip school to go. Oh well. It'll still be fun for me!

Thanksgiving is approaching fast, and I'm a little apprehensive about this year. DH's family invited my mom and aunt to come spend the day with us, which is really cool. But then, after my mom and aunt accepted, I was informed that SIL-to-be and family would all be there, as well. I can haz sad nao? So I'm kind of dreading Thanksgiving now. Not only do I have to spend it with some people that I REALLY dislike, I also am going to be super self-conscious about how much I eat because they're all twigs who are super weight and health conscious. Way to ruin a good day.

I am scheduled to work on Black Friday, so that'll be interesting. I can't imagine that we're really going to have much business, because I mean, come on. It's a drug store. It's not like we're people's number one shopping destination. But they've got four of us scheduled, so whatever. The really awesome part is that I'm not working night shift for once, which makes me really happy. I think I'm scheduled to get off at 2pm, so I actually get to spend a decent amount of time at home. And I fully plan to put up our Christmas tree and start decorating that day, so I'll actually have time to get it done. Woot!

I need to go get ready for work. It's rainy and dreary here, so my hair will be in it's natural curl today to avoid the megafrizz.
